The re-opening of the Jubilee Hall on Saturday 13th January 2007

After being closed for six months, the Jubilee Hall was formally re-opened by John Loaring, the senior member of the Jubilee Hall Management Committee. John Loaring, and his family  before him have been involved with the management of the Jubilee Hall for over one hundred years.
Other guests making up the 'platform party' were Eileen Zoers, Village Hall Director of the Community Council of Somerset, and Sylvia Seal, SSDC District Councillor, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture.
Over one hundred people attended the celebration event, filling the hall almost to overflowing. Following the opening ceremony a superb tea was served ,donated by Tony and Terry Laws -Spindler, proprietors of The Bell, and Ann Bevis.

In 2017, ten years later, the point  of recording the speech for posterity is that it lists the names of many of the people who contributed, in so many different ways. Sadly some of those named are no longer living in the parish, or have passed away. However, the fruits of their efforts live on
