'ALL LIT UP!' to celebrate the 120th Anniversary of WINSHAM PARISH COUNCIL. The Jubilee Hall was lit up, for the first time in its history to mark an historic event. |
|
The celebration on Saturday, 13th December was a great
success. Seventy five people sat down to a slap-up meal followed by some
first class entertainment. After supper even more crowded in to see the
drama -documentary entitled 'Plus ca Change...', presented by the
Winsham Players, and written and produced by Stella Abbey especially for
the event. Its theme , as its title suggests is that for the Parish
Council over 120 years, nothing much changes! After the drama came a change of mood, with half an hour of community singing led by Tony Meech and Ivor Hyde, and helped along by the evenings Master of Ceremonies, Simon Preston. Another popular aspect of the evening was the showing of pictures spanning the 120 years of parish council activity. The images, with no sound, were projected onto the back wall of the hall, while people ate. Some forty or so volunteers were involved in the planning and carrying out the anniversary celebrations. |
